Where It All Began
I can’t tell my story without telling the story of my grandmother Frances. Raised during the Great Depression by her grandmother, Frances’s life was not one of fairytales. She married the love of her life, and brought 5 children into this world. She was faithful In the 1950s, through no fault of her own, Frances would end up a single mother. She took on the task of providing for her family as best she could. Frances carried a burden, but her faith would see her through. Years after her death,...

What it means to me
What it all means to me I’ve been asked this question so often in recent days that I thought I needed to come up with a real answer. As funny as it seems, I’ve never really articulated my feelings about what my grandmother Frances was trying to convey when she wrote the letter in the back of her beloved bible. I thought I might share my thoughts. Girl be brave. Such hefty words, especially when you consider the source. Just like so many others, Frances had a hard life. Sometimes they don’t like my hair, or at least it seems that way to me. It may seem silly, but this was always hard for me. I have frizzy hair and I live in the South. 98% humidity is not my friend. Most days I have a minimum of 5 products in my hair but to no avail. It does what it does....

Just because it isn’t easy, doesn’t mean it’s wrong.
Somewhere along the way we’ve been told that if something is hard or strenuous, then it obviously isn’t right for us. I don’t think that anything could be further from the truth. While trying to accomplish anything noteworthy, you will undoubtedly face hard things. It could be people, circumstances, or difficult times in a relationship. Things happen. Overcoming difficulty is a vital part of leading a life of purpose and accomplishment. Avoiding the hard things will keep you stuck, and take my word for it, frustration will ensue. Hard work is not the enemy, nothing worthwhile happens without it. Expect...

Love the Life You Are In
What would it mean for you if you truly loved your life? I mean unabashed, untethered love. The kind of love that has you jumping out of bed in the morning with a smile on your face and enthusiasm in your heart. You may think that it is not possible to feel that way about your life, but it is. If you are like me, then you spend a lot of time doing things that you would rather not do. You know, those things that someone NEEDS to do so it might as well be you. For me it is...

Your Gifts-Life’s Purpose Manifested
You are a gift. Everything about you is a gift. When you were born you were given gifts and talents. Along with that, you were given the commission to use them to make this world a better place. If we ignore our gifts, we are inadvertently rejecting the very reason we were created. We are all created to live a life of purpose and that purpose is to impact the lives of others in a positive way. It is your commission to cultivate those gifts and talents and then express them fully. Whenever you share your gifts and talents with...
